Madonna Inn Pink Champagne Cake

Because the flowers are in bloom and the air is perfumed with the sweet smell of spring, our minds drifted to world of fantasy desserts. As we kept talking about oh how we wished we would have a piece of creamy fluffiness the phone rang and our good friends called from their trip to San Luis Obispo, which is about two hours north of Santa Barbara. We talked about dessert of course and they said they will bring a surprise! Later that day they stopped by with this incredible hot pink fairytale fantasy cake from their trip up to the Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo.

May is one of the most spectacular and tasteful months in California and it's time again to celebrate the Taste of the Nation in Santa Barbara on May 19. With over 20 restaurants and chefs bringing you delectable edibles and local wineries brining plenty of sip worthy wines, this is one event for your gastronomical senses and for your heart.

The event ticket sales support Share Our Strength’s efforts to end childhood hunger in Santa Barbara and across the nation. Local charities that will benefit from this year’s event include Santa Barbara Food Bank, California Food Policy Advocates and California Association of Food Banks.

Another rainstorm was sweeping down the Pacific coast from the north and the temperature turned a little cooler then usual for spring. You may have heard about California rain in the song by Albert Hammond "It never rains in California, but girl, don't they warn ya, It pours, man, it pours." Even in paradise there is rain, not very often but it does happen here in sunny Southern California, and that calls for something comforting and warming.
